Year of Completion: 2021

Location: Edmonton, AB

A unified material palette revitalizes the Club with contemporary finishes while respecting the building’s existing architectural language.

Originally built in 1961, the Royal Glenora Club is nestled on the north side of the River Valley near the High Level Bridge, carrying a long legacy of hosting athletes, entertainers, and events for families. The Club’s facilities expanded with a growing membership and continues to improve based on a community-integrated vision.

This 2021 redevelopment takes the existing bones of the 1961 Club and brings modern design to various parts of the facility.

With a sense of place in mind, unique ways of extending natural light through new glazing interventions were created to integrate daylight and maximize views of the lush River Valley.

The expanded program includes a new member restaurant and lounge, ballroom, café, teen club, childcare area, locker rooms, spa, centralized kitchen, administration block, new entrances and a streamlined exterior promenade along the front façade.

Restoring traditional wood elements provides an expression of natural materiality.
